i would stick a mag extension/ get an extension made, so that it lines up wit the end of the barrell.. just for looks

I agree. I thought if it was much shorter than 18.5" the flashlight would stick out past the barrel. I figured my 18.5" would be closer to flush but I was wrong. Still happy.
