New Sig Cross Trax, anyone buy one yet ?

I'm not sure if any have even shipped to Canada yet but if a guy is looking to loose 6.5 ounces of weight, it looks like a good option.

I'm surprised they don't sell it with some basic spacers to adjust the length of pull?

There is no need for spacers. The stock is adjustable for length of pull, buttplate height and cheekpiece.

The ultra light new Trax has a different minimalist stock, reduced length bolt handle and pistol grip, plus a shorter handguard and is about .4 lbs lighter.

Sorry you're right, I confused the name with one of the other new models.

Personally, I'd take the 6.5 oz hit and keep the adjustable stock. It's great.

I agree the original stock is nice and I believe they have improved the folding mechanism on the latest models.

That said the Trax looks like it could take optional spacers and a real basic cheek riser and not be much heavier. It looks like the stock and handguard would be easy to swap out to lighten the load on a long hike.

I wonder if SIG was smart enough to Loktite the base down on the new ones because out of the three that we have scoped (two 308's and one 6.5) all of the rail screws were not tight and covered in oil. If you choose to install the rail properly with Loktite, be aware of the small spring underneath the back of the rail as it will fly out if your not careful.

I saw some clips of the new mechanism on their 300 wm rifles. Luckily mine has worked without issue, the lockcup is tight.

I have a Cross Trax and it's pretty sweet. Very light with thin handguard and smooth bolt. My stock locks up tight and is very comfortable. Very happy with it.

I decided to get a Trax as well. I’ve put 26 rounds through it this week, so far. I don’t mind the shorter length of pull, as that is my preference . I replaced the Rattler pistol grip, found it a tad too short. Made a “ temporary “ cheek rest cover using foam and camo hockey tape… LOL .
I’m currently searching for a short flash hider for it…

My friend has now ordered one. The dogleg stock will fit him well.
May I ask what your scope choice was? He has a budget of 1K and would be shooting out to 300yd max. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to your friend , let us know how it works out for him. I’m really liking mine so far…
I am currently using a Leupold vx-freedom 4-12 x 40mm with 30mm tube and side focus . I think I paid $ 811 for the scope. I have a red dot optic I may try with the Trax as well.

I saw one on the shelf and it caught my interest. I liked the light weight and compact concept. Very mixed reviews during my online research. I plan to hold off for a couple years for the next version.

I can't see the 6oz weight difference making up for a worse stock design and shorter hanguard. Is there any real benefit I'm wondering? Limited reviews online.
