New Sig MPX

if they did it right, and put a long enough barrel on it, they might, might get it non-restricted, but it would take them and an importer to get their :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: in order to do that. And we know how unlikely that is. But honestly, I'm fine with restricted for the time being.

gsg 5 - Willful ignorance.

Except the manufacturer advertises the GSG 5 as a .22lr MP5 clone. On the other hand, the Sig MPX runs on a short stroke gas piston and rotating bolt (similar to AR-15 piston guns) and Sig is advertising it as a completely new firearm. It shares some remote external similarity to the MP5, but unlike the GSG, is not designed to mimic an MP5.

Basically, Sig says it's a new gun and the design is different internally. It's as similar to the MP5 as the FAMAE SAF is to the MP5. Some visual similarity but completely different SMG's.

What I would be worried about is if the civvy version is readily and easily convertible to full auto.

I was at the SIG booth today and the SIG rep there said that the fire control parts are all AR. I wasn't able to look inside the lower to check internal differences between the semi and full auto lowers, but the semi lower DID NOT have a hole drilled for the auto sear. So someone would not be able to install full auto parts without at least drilling that out.

I'll take them as restricted: regular and compact versions of them for sure in semi-auto of course!!! :D

^Exactly. I'm all about the regular version. Restricted works for me too. Can't stand seeing nice firearms like these with 18" barrels on them.

Non-Restricted versions of these beauties would defeats all purpose behind it. Restricted is just fine. Prohibited would be devastating. If the FAMAE SAF models can come in, why can't these...And oh yeah, all 10/30 round mags and when SHTF...I got my arsenal: glock 9mm package and now sig mpx 9mm package :D

Seriously. I did not pay much attention to this.

But now... This is the hottest thing. I would sell ALL my Ar's for this. If they made a 19" version. :)

It would be NR. With the fancy baffle....errr, I mean, muzzle brake.

It is NR because they say it is only interchangeable with accessories not uppers! or mags.
Kinda like a Thureon Defense! Ya baby!!!

This could be good!

If there was enough demand, of course they could do a special run of 19" barrels for the Canadian market.

However, I have doubts on that "muzzle brake" being kosher for import.
