Hello all, im kinda new. so if i do or say anything i shouldn't please dont flame me. im new here, but not to guns.

so im a big fan of sigs. ( as a matter of fact im looking for a p226 9mm, i know it belongs in the exchange, just thought id mention it, incase some of you dont go in there.)

anyhow, i just found out that sig made a special run of P226R ST nitron 9mm with DAK for the RCMP, and there were a few leftovers that got into civilian hands anyone here get a chance at one of these ? few guys in the states got there hands on them. ( none had RCMP markings, but were just part of the run)

they are the only nitron coated full steel p226 9mm ever , as far as i know. i think they should make this model available for everyone to buy. maybe not with the DAK but DA/SA because i would buy one in a heart beat.

anyhow heres a pic, for those interested. anyone have any thoughts or comments on this, i think they are for the ERT.

Yeah...

Unless those "RCMP" Sigs were part of the new trials process to eventually replace the 5946, they certainly weren't from the late 80's batch that were actually used by ERT / PDS (and there are a few still in service).

I think somebody might be selling a story, to up the price of the pistol...

nah,. i dont think sig needs to tell a story on this gun to sell it , any sigophile knowing this gun is available would buy it, its an all steel frame that is nitron coated. these dont exist( all nitrons are alloy frame, and ST frames arent nitron they are stainless) , this is it . the only thing else you can get is an elite ( which isnt nitron, just stainless) . which to me , isnt that great looking. im not a fan of the beavertail . and the grips are horrible.( i know grips can be changed) but when your paying a huge amount of money compared to the standard. just doesnt make sense.
and besides this, the standard ST frame is all stainless no nitron coating. and other than that , you can try and find a 226SL (non rail) but they are almost 2x the price of a base 226.

let me remind you . there are no rcmp markings on the ones that were available on the civilian market. they were just a special edition. and they werent even that expensive in the states.

The Elites also come in Stainless and I know they did some stainless which was coated. I love the beaver tail on my 229, works well with the .40cal

Believable.

There is a rumour from some well placed sources that the ERT/PDS is starting to transition back to new Sigs. No idea of what specific model.

However, I had the Firearms Manual open today, and the only reference to Sigs in the book are the old stock from the 80s.

No way this will ever make it all the way through the Force to the General Duty guys though. Too bad, that thing looks tasty.

Wasn't there an all steel black sig 226 that came out of the sig germany or something? (not an X-5). I think Questar brings/brought them in.

I think these are what I was thinking of:

Althought it is nice, it's not like there is any real need for a steel frame. I've never seen a post saying: "my frame went on my p226".

I was a bit disapointed when I found ouit about them at first (just after buying my sig), but then I figured that I'd probably be more happy with the extended beavertail of the p226 elite, than with a steel frame anyways.

yes that is the SL, is costs 2x as much about $1800- 2000 ,no rail, all steel, 100% made in germany. if i could get my hands on one i would. but they are hard to get.. and btw . they are pretty close to a X5 all round from what ive seen in price .

Tommeh . this is a an all steel (frame and slide)version. yours, the slide is steel but the frame is alloy.

these are basically 226 ST but with nitron ,instead of all stainless ( non nitron coated) and were about the same price as the ST (non nitron) the thing is sig only made these for rcmp, we cant get them, well at least yet. i hear they make them in germany for euro cops, but ive never heard of them coming here, or anyone who has brought them in. they would be pricey

btw if anyone has a SL .please msg on here,

besides the SL, ST being steel . ive only heard of one or two frames going on the alloy, and that was after a high number of rounds ,its just quite a unique gun, heavier than a baby eagle, a pleasure to shoot, but something only for a sigophile to understand i guess.

PS Tommeh how do you like the DAK trigger ?

Thanks for clarifying that! I knew I was missing something :D I've grown to like the DAK trigger... at first I wasn't a big fan but the more I shoot it I can't get rid of this baby :p

You know if you wanted the cheap way out you could get a p226 ST and get it refinished in black. I'm sure some company somehwere can refinish guns.

Tommeh, ya im sorta getting more and more interested in the DAK, glad to hear you like it.

nickoerette, ya i thought of that., but for the price i figure to buy the ST and have it refinished i would rather put the money to the SL, which has a ilaflon coating ,much nicer than nitron, but then theres no rail.

thanks for reading guys.

DAK is Good!

. . . I've grown to like the DAK trigger. . . :p /QUOTE]

+1 After a layoff period without shooting, I started up again with a SIG P229/40/DAK. A simply amazing pistol, and trigger system.

I have expanded into the P226's and P220's and am slowly converting all but a few to the DAK Trigger System.

As a matter of fact, I will be receiving back next week, a P220ST I am having a custom gunsmith modify and convert to the DAK system.

The P220ST is my favorite piece, and now with a DAK? :D

I spoke to SIG about these guns... tried to buy whatever they had left. There were a few "extras" leftover from the run that was made for RCMP but those have already been sold and there are no more left.

Sorry guys.

That's too bad. You would have had the set that we trialed...

The one you did get is more rare anyway, and from how the testing went, didn't give up anything to the Sig. ;)

Greetings from the "lower 48".

Is there any recent info regarding the acquisition for the (probable) RCMP ERT and K-9 Units?

My interest lies within the use and density (if any numbers are available or can be published) of the all-stainless NITRON 226's with the DAK trigger system. There were very few "extras" made available to us US Dealers when the basic RCMP purchase came about.

Thanx, Richard
