New Sig Sauer - P226 MK25

Beautiful!!! I had one on order as my first pistol when I first got my PAL. Got sick on waiting for it. It still was my first love so will eventually pick one up as well. Congrats!

Mine came with 10 round mags. Is there a version that comes with pinned 15 rounders?

This is what I find interesting. The gun is supposed to come with three 15 round Mec-Gar magazines, whereas most other P226 models that Sig sells come with two inferior Checkmate magazines.
Before I got the gun I asked on a California gun forum, and some people said that depending on the supplier, some swapped out the mags for 10 round made in USA Checkmate mags, and some pinned the 15 round Mec-Gars. One of the reason I bougth this gun over plain jane P226 is because it was going to be cheaper for me to buy a MK25 and have three good magazines than have to try and sell or get rid of the Checkmates and source 3 Mec-Gars of my own.

I opened the box and thankfully saw this...

There's a while rivet of some sort through the back but I am not sure how they did it.

My Mk25 had the serial number end with a "-10". I assumed this meant that it was designated for a state where they only allow 10-rounders. I was concerned at first, but it had the UID and the certificate of authenticity. So who am I to say otherwise?

Hey, you guys who are buying that Mk25, leave one for me... ha ha ha ha LOL :D

I love my SIG 226 pistols!! Time to watch NCIS LA with my P226!

To the original poster: What holster you gonna rock with that Mk25? I'm using a Safariland 6280 (duty holster) attached to my 6004 leg shroud (thigh rig). Soon I have a Serpa in Coyote tan from the USA that I'm going to attach (or try to) a Safariland QLS plate with the 3 screws. Have fun with the new pistol... :)

cheers,
Barney

Is it possible that I have the Caliornia compliant Mk25? How would I know?

Mine came with the 10 rounds mags and had a "-10" at the end of the serial UID code.

What is the main difference between the regular P226R and the Mk25. I know the MK25 is supposed to be the US Navy service pistol. But are there actually any functional difference between them? I see some people here saying they are supposed to come with pinned MecGar mags instead of the crappy Checkmate mags so I guess thats a difference but anything else major?

Just curious because I just preordered a p226r with the SRT trigger. Can't wait to get it :)

Phosphate coated internals
Night sites
Mil spec rail vice the normal rail
Mec Gar phosphate mags x 3
Anchor engraving
UID label
Certificate of authenticity
That's it as far as I remember

For those in a similar situation as myself, I calle SIG. The Mk25-10 is simply a Mk25 that ships with 10 round mags. It's the same in every way to the SEAL sidearm save for the 10-round mags. It is NOT a California complient model.

The "Mk25-10" signifies that the gun was destined from the outset of its production to be shipped with 10 round mags but is identical to the ones shipped with 15 round mags.

If you have a California compliant Sig, there's a loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect safety. It should have a CA in the serial number.

IIRC, Questar posted last year that there is no way for them to know what type of mags will ship with the gun, from the factory. I was lucky enough to get my hand on a fair amount of 10/15 rounders in 2011.
Worst case, Marstar still have great prices on Mecgar 10rds. Not a big fan of the plastic base, but what can we do... If you are interrested, they get a shipment once every year or so... And they don't last long
I still find Checkmate to be of better quality than promag or usa mags.
I refuse to pay 100$ for a single German made mag...
Mecgar can be trusted. They produce most current CF pistol mags (HP, 225,226)

I have the phosphate coated OEM mag 10 rounders (the gray finish), my MK25 came with 3 OEM (black stuff coated) mags and I already had the McGar with the plastic base. To be honest, the McGar mags are by far the best mags. Very easy to insert, the base plate is a plus, they don't hang up when not perfectly aligned and they drop with autority. The gray mags are absolute garbage. Can't speak of the black mags because I don't have enough range time with them.
