Here are a few pics of a Norinco leaving here on monday after sighting in this weekend. We've added an Armco fixed rear sight and an Armco lengthwise dovetailed front sight. The sight picture is superb, and ideal for either IPSC or any shooting where a fast, clear sight picture is preferred. Hey, that's anytime you're shooting, right? $125 for the set, installed on a new Norinco )or your supplied 1911 :) Includes sighting in...

There are a few other extras on this Norc, as you can see, but still a very affordable .45!

How much would the front sight only cost? I imagine you have to machine the slide?

Will the front sight line up with Chip McCormick rear sights?

A few short answers:

Front sight only - $75 plus tax, installed.
Adjustable rear (Bomar, Caspian) machined into the slide: Approx $250 (half that is the machining).
Hirise beavertail, properly installed: $175 plus frame refinishing.
Ambi safety - from $80 installed to $180 installed, depending on brand and type.
Magwell, $50 installed.

I have this Armco sight set on a special deal - could also use Heinies and the like, at not much more cost.

I do not trust new sights that are staked on "rinco 1911A1s. Why? The metal on a "rinco is so hard the sights on my #2 'rinco flew off twice! I went with a dove tail and the flying front sight problem went away. Regards, Richard :D

How much would it cost to get rid of all the manufacturing words like the "spec ops" pistol.

I second that question. The slide in the posted picture is clear of all the Made in China & Norinco lettering, is that a custom slide or a re-finished one?

What would the cost be to do that?

Sharp eye :) This one still has all the markings. Removing them off the slide and refinishing is about a $150 job. Usually left until it really needs a refinish anyway :) Front serrations are $75.

And, Richard, if you peer more closely, you may notice that my front sights are dovetailed, not staked on. I just do it so neatly, you can't tell :)

Thanks for all the thoughtful comments and questions, guys!
