New Single Actions

I checked Lee's site - they list 45-75 under their limited run dies. There were a few places Stateside selling 45-75 brass, and more companies are starting to make runs, but I think they usually sell out fast. I believe Chaparral is making their own brass - might want to check with John to see if Marstar is going to start carrying it. You'll definitely have to post pics once you get it - I want to see how they compare size wise to other guns. I know they're big, but it'd be nice to see one next to a 94 or something to show the scale.

I did some reading on these Chaparral '76 rifles and there seems to be some very mixed results on quality. I'm hoping this batch has better quality control, or that some bugs were worked out.

I'm very interested in these rifles, especially since I can't really afford the Uberti version (if they're even in Canada). I just hope that if I order one that I'll be guaranteed that it will function properly (cycle, no jammings, etc.), and not have sights that fall off after a few range sessions.

I have heard the Chapparal's have great bores and are very accurate.

Keep in mind all I know is hear-say from Cowboy action shooting blogs :)

I did a lot of the same reading and that was my first impression too Randy. In looking over all that information though, I get the impression that many if not most of those issues were taken care of in the last bit of 07 (at least I am hoping!). The only issue is if any of these items were built in Q2/Q3 of 2007, there may be some probs around. Either way though, buying from Marstar gives you a good degree of protection from problems and issues, I think it will be fine.

KK, thanks for the information, in reading lots of the info, I was thrown off because one of the die companies 4H dies I think?? has two 45-75 calibers listed, 45-75 Uberti and 45-75 WCF.... These are Chaparral arms built from Uberti parts I imagine, so I wonder what the dies are best.....sigh.

John, my apologies, I missed your earlier post on the first page, but I did get the 76 I wanted and got everything done, so I think I am ok!! Thanks for your offer, though, if I didn't miss your post, I would have been on the phone to you the next day!

Chaparral and Uberti are different manufacturers. Many people have reported that the Chaparral parts are interchangeable with originals and this is entirely possible since they have not incorporated some of the "refinements" that Uberti does in their versions.

.45/75 Lee makes them as well as all the other "original calibers" we are offering.... Try Higginson Powders for the dies....

As for the brass, we have some coming the next shipment of rifles....

Thanks John, I got some dies on the way, so it'll just be a matter of brass and things will be good to go!

Real glad you brought in those 76's....THANKS!

John, will you be bringing in any of the Chaparral 1878 Coach Guns (PM me with a price if you don't mind). Are the coach guns made in Italy or China (Cimmaron, TNN)? Thanks.
