Good for you ! If we all took care of our land like that there would be far fewer trespassing scum. I put trespassers in the same category as common sneak thieves. Nice to see the new $1000 fine kick in.
So this has too do with hunters in Saskatchewan in what way? You have absolutely no idea how hunting and hunting laws have existed here for 70 yrs. trespassers are not hunters, hunters are not trespassers in Saskatchewan. I guess some of us see a bigger picture here. And some of us are not so selfish that we think we do more than caretake our land for future generations. I actually like to see young hunters out with their dads on my land. Meet some new friends, enjoy the hunt. I may own the land, but I don’t own the wildlife.
And yes, there are douchebag atvers, skiddoers, fishermen, and hunters. If they cause damage to your property or livestock, laws already exist. And thieves. Follow any court cases lately?
In the 40 yrs I’ve owned land here I’ve had one or two times that I felt the need to have something “handy”. Never once has it been with people hunting. Other than “don’t hunt that way as there is a house over the hill”, I’ve not had a bad experience with hunters.
Thieves are another story. We don’t tend to rely on the goberment out in my part of Canada. The wait times are in the hours. Funny how thieves seem to decide on a new vocation when a landowner objects to their presence. “Did you phone the rc’s? Nah, they won’t be back...”
perhaps those acreage owners surrounded by crown land feel superior to the city/town folks who might want to walk a shelter belt for some sharpies. Maybe those 2500 acre owners feel they should not allow anyone on their land, 10 miles from occupied dwellings, well just because it’s mine. Pull up an rm map and tell me who owns what, and how to get ahold of them before you talk about trespassers. Post your damn land if you don’t want hunters. 4 bloody signs per 1/4, woop de doo. And enjoy Justin’s son restricting you to pellet guns in 10 yrs because we have no firearm owners left.
