new skeet guns

That's a broad question. However whenever I'm asked about a first gun I always recommend a Remington 1100. They are very user friendly in that they are simple to operate and easy to strip down for cleaning. Spare parts are readily available and these guns are everywhere so finding one shouldn't be a problem. Feed it good ammo and wipe down the gas system every 100 rounds and enjoy.:)

The 20 ga. 1100 would be an excellent, inexpensive choice.

If your budget allows, you could find a lightly used O/U with a good name for $1,000 or so. Yes, some consider that inexpensive. Remember, you can always sell it for close to the purchase price, so the money is never 'gone'.

Skeet being the gun down game that it is tends to have a variation in guns being used. a lot of shooters swear by over unders or auto's. My leniency is towards the O/U due to the fact that there is usually less of a chance of jamming or mechanical failure. The 1100 is a good gun as is the 11-87 which might be the solution. Wholesale sports in Edmonton has the 11-87 sportsmans for right around 750 bucks including tax.

But if he was looking at an O/U in either the 12ga or 20ga CZ is now importing a good turkish Gun by a firm named Huglu. Wholesale sells the middle of the range gun in both 12 and 20 for just over a 1000 bucks. Relatively cheap for the O/U but i really like them. These guns are desinged for uplanding primarily and has a nice recoil pad that has plastic on the top edge to prevent the pad from catching on jackets or vests. hope this helps.

I found a lw 20 1100 for $450 I'll look at it this week. I think a 28 o/u or sxs in the import (cz,moss.silver reserve or similar) will serve us well. Any other Ideas sure welcome. Tks AJ
