Ok so when I took off for creston on Tuesday I never really knew what a SKS was, I have heard of Norinco before and even payed marstar a visit every now and then but mostly just to take a gander at the hand guns, some how to over looking the rifles.
Any who, I was in Creston to take of a few things that came up. I got things takin care of earier than expected soooo I decided to pay the local sporting goods store a visit with a friend of mine, he said he had something to show me, he said he'd by one if he a had his PAL.
So after much Oooooing and ahhhhing and handling the SKS I up and decide that I need to buy it, don't know why I just decided that I always could use another gun in the cabinet. The next major desision I had to make was do I want to buy the case or 200 rounds for 40 bucks, one more look in my wallet and I decided to go with the 200 rnds:cool: :D :p
I've yet to understand what possesed me to by the SKS, but what I do understand is that it is alot of fun!
So now I sit here and ask my self few things like... how long will the remaining ammo last me tomorrow, I see Canada Ammo does derrect deposit payments, and now how in the sam hills am I gonna pay for rent? actually I got that coverd now.
Of coarse now that I've done some checking up on the net I think I might buy another one so I can keep one just as is and the other one to modify.
Oh gawd there goes any and all spare cash!:( ok ok so now it's off to bed, gotta see about some gophers tomorrow.

I kinda regret selling my sks, but it was seeing the least amount of range time, so it had to go.

They are certainly a fun plinker, and I'd have no problems taking it deer hunting with 150gr SP's

ok, do check the barrel to make sure it dosen't side forward.
some of the Norc 56s coming into Canada have had an issue with a sliding barrel as the barrel pin is somtimes loose or missing altogether.
BE AWARE OF THIS! I found out the hard way. luckily my SKS was able to be traded for a new one.
SKSs when they work, work really quite well! They are the best rifle for the $$$.

Checked and all is well!

Just getting ready for a strip and a clean, MMmmmmmmmm striping,LOL
One thing I did notice this evening, I gotta cynder block problem that needed help from the SKS to take care of, is that after firing off a few shots and the barrel gets really warm the accuracy opens up abit, of coarse that could be me as I am still a green shooter.
But sure does take care of those blocks with no problem:D

So pretty... so new. :)

First thing I'd do is to buy a sight adjustment tool, then set up some targets at 50, and 100 yards, and bench you new rifle with sandbags...allow the barrel to float free, and find out exactly where your front sight is adjusted to.

When shooting offhand...
Assuming your right handed, and are of average North American framework...watch that your right elbow doesn't drop while you are firing.
As this opens up the ''shoulder pocket'', and allows the buttstock to start to move about.

Everyone I have handed my rifle to at our club starts to drop their elbow after the first few shots...except the guys that shoot trap, and skeet. :D

Also the funny part is watching the "flinches", as some folks are not ready for the long trigger creep. :D

Practice practice practice.
Oh darn eh? :D

Yes yes practice practice:D
Been out every evening after things cool down out side, and shoot off about 15 or so rounds, I need to stretch out the last of my ammo till I can order su'more. Wouldn't suppose that there is any one in Lethbridge or Calgary that sell the surplus ammo? Or is ordering it from Canada Ammo the best place?
