Did you buy this rifle from a dealer or private sale?

As it should have come with a cleaning kit and sling if it came from a dealer.

bit of a bizzaro story

I know an antique/used firearm dealer

I did a favor for him, he traded one of his guns for my sks

and i got the sks as payment

so i only got the sks, none of the other goodies

Well, there's lots of dealers that have SKS's out there. In your neck of the woods, I'd give Elwood Epps or Trade Ex a call. I'd bet they have what you're looking for.

I got one of those fiberglass stock's for mine and my ear's are still ringing!
PINGGGGGGG!!!!
Oh ya the rubber but pad is a must. I hate the metal on soft skin.

I couldn't find a rubber butt pad / Stock extender in Canada but here is a US source:

rubber buttpad??? ... those damn thing kick less than a .22 lol Unless it's for extending the stock I couldn't see why one would be bothered.

You're right, its about extending the stock. The normal length of pull is not very ergonomic for most of us. The butt pad extends the LOP by an inch. They go on easily and you don't have to modify the butt.

You must have softer shoulders then my 13 year old step daughter, as she was out all day at the range with her mothers SKS a few weeks ago and she never complained once about the metal buttplate on her shoulder. :p :D

If it was never fired, what would it need to be refurbished for?

Also how would it have been sighted in? :D

ya it's just someone said it's a must lol. Wouldn't see why if if it's for recoil that's all.

thank god I'm a short little bastard and the sks fits me perfectly hehe

When you change from the solid wood stock to a fiberglass stock. The overall L.O.P. is shorter due to the fact it was made for the Vietnamese and also there is almost no recoil absorption taken up by the stock. So when you pound off a couple of hundred rounds at the range later on that night I always see the purple "U" shaped ring.

I guess you are right curtton

These are all the different types
bottom-18.jpg

1. Albania spike
2. China spike
3. China/Egypt spike
4. China Jungle spike
5. Sino-Soviet blade
6. China Jungle blade
7. China Paratrooper blade
8. North Korea blade
9. Russia Hardwood
10. Russia Laminated
11. Yugoslavia M59 blade
12. Yugoslavia M59/66 blade
The Albanian SKS has the longest stock of all the variations of the SKS. The Yugoslavian 59/66 is slightly longer because of the rubber butt pad added for the launching of grenades. Chinese, North Korean, North Vietnamese, Romanian, Russian and Yugoslavian all have the same basic dimensions.
