I received this SKS as a gift. I was told it supposedly had some value in the SKS collectors market. I am not sure if this information was true or not. Thought I would throw it out for those with more SKS knowledge than I have. The left of the receiver has a HM four digit number and then the Russian "D" series up side down half hour glass is how I explain it. I guess that is suppose to signify a 1956 rifle. Following that is the small Tula star. One thing that is different is that it appears to have a triangle with an upside down "2" not sure what these markings are. If messaged I can send a photo attachment

Pics would help but they would be in the last run of production if its a D rifle. After this point any Russian sks was for foreign use as the army began phasing out the rifle. Is the stock original , was it refurbished, was it issued, condition , in cosmoline, metal part serial match , original blueing, type of Can mag pin. All affect perceived value .

Thanks philhut for the info. Yes the gun has been refurbished. From what I can tell it is the original stock. How would I be able to tell if this gun was issued or not?

Great information, no refurb marks but the gun is in too good of condition to say it wasn't, all ser numbers matching. I hate to say it but I jumped in way too soon and mounted it in a Tapco stock. Maybe this is one I should't have frankticaled!

Not really an unidentified marking. It was probably refurbished at the 103 Grau Arsenal is all. But I am going from your description. Would need to see some pics.
