Finally quit depriving myself and picked up a 1955 Tula sks and a 1440 round crate of the good stuff today. Currently into the cosmoline removal, boiled all the small parts I could fit in a pot for about 7 minutes, seems to have worked amazingly, smelled delicious too. Anyone else use that method?
Cant wait to get out and shoot this thing, hopefully tomorrow!

The second I hit post new thread I realized that new was a poor choice of word to describe a 58 year old rifle, the excitement got to me I believe! haha

I can relate, picked up my first Feb 14, my second Feb 14th my 3rd arrived yesterday, and have a Chinese on order from Marstar, not sure when it will arrive!! :). Have to try and stop, or at least SLOW down!!!!!!

What I meant was this is only your FIRST SKS ! Pretty sure you'll be picking up another !

You're definitely right, I had it out today and am officially hooked. I feel like running back to the surplus store and grabbin another one and a crate while they have a deal on. Real light and short to carry in the woods, basically no recoil, beauty rifle, glad I finally jumped on the bandwagon.

I'm addicted also , picked up 3 in the last few months, but not light or easy to carry in the woods, relative to other rifles.

I got mine 6 months ago. Used the mineral spirits soak method and it cleaned up spotless. I mounted the synthetic stock on it that I got from Cabela's and it is my favorite gun to play with.
