I have a Gen 3 Glock 35 (40 S&W) with after market 40 and 9mm conversion for it as well. I’m thinking of getting a red dot on it primarily for 3 gun. Just looking for options advice on which way to go. I will primarily use the 9mm conversion.

Do I get a plate that fits in the existing rear sight dovetail? Will I find this too high and difficult to find the dot. I have very limited experience with dots.

Do I get my existing slide milled to accept some kind of red dot? But then I have lost my option of iron sights.

Do I try to find a replacement side that is already milled or one that I can have milled?

Just looking for advice /options. Thx.

Thank you Rippo for the link. That definitely looks like an option.

Would the mounting plate make the optic to high making it difficult to acquire the dot? But for the price it may be worth trying it out.

You will up above your iron sights height approx ~1”
It’s a cheaper option if you already have a optic and just want to start out.
This would be my choice if you’re willing to go full pull:
Holosun SCS Optic would be a great choice as it’s made for the Glock MOS slides.

The dovetail mount is weak and may conflict with some holsters, but I don’t think you’ll notice the tiny difference in height over bore vs a milled slide.

Direct mount is best, so I’d mill the slide myself, or buy a milled slide.

The holosun SCS makes no sense at all in this scenario as finding a Glock MOS slide is much harder than the alternatives.
