I have a marlin G/S in 45/70 . I would like to try them out , but would like some feed back . has onyone seen them in Canada yet ? They say the new spitzer bullet will increase your rannge by fifty to a hundred meters . I got the info from PETERSEN`S RIFLE SHOOTER magazine . thanks in advance Joe

i think the old style flatnose will still prove to hit game like a sledge hammer. no bullet is going to turn those old cartridges into long range boomers.

..........i am shooting a new guide gun with 405 grain lead casts. I am 6" low at 200 yards with 1650 ft lbs left. Moose out to 250 yards will be on the menu in the fall with this load.

..........if i was hell bent on shooting spitzers i would sell all my levers and get only bolt guns or i would by more Savage 99's.

............the .45-70 has a very long run of success throughout history and has no need to be associated with some ### rubber tipped bullet. Same goes with the .30-.30:D

Once again a reinvention of the wheel in the attempts to turn a buck. Just like everybodies doing with all these so called new and improved cartridges. A waste of good brass...The whole idea of your 45/70 is to offer you large projectile frontal area, creating large wound channels at all speeds. Now you spitster that front, your goin backwards Bro.

There you have it folks, our panel of judges has spoken. BTW if we don't need to reinvent the wheel, why are you guys using smokeless powder in those 45-70?
