New Squirrel Rifle....

There are huntable populations of grey squirrels (and black colour phase) within an hours drive of Sudbury, I get out a few times each year. The red squirrel is protected from hunting only as it is classified as a "furbearer" and can be taken under a licence to trap... as a kid, I thought a squirrel was a squirrel, and shot and ate hundreds of red squirrels... they are good BTW, years later I discovered they were considered furbearers, and was chagrined, and also thankful that I did not get spot checked with my limit of reds! That was 40 years ago, so the statute of limitations should be up on that faux pas.

That's good to know about more plentiful populations of greys not too far away. I would guess you mean south, down Hwy 69?

OP, I have two dedicated squirrel rifles, an Anschutz 64 with VX-2 6-18X40 AO, and a CZ 453 Lux with VX-3 4.5-14X40 AO.

I occasionally use a Browning Buck Mark Sporter Carbine with VX-1 2-7X28mm Rimfire when backpacking and a Browning Citori Lightning 20 gauge, during the early season.

Incredibly sweet rifle ! Chicken of the Tree are literally a delicacy 'round my house. Btw would love to know if a sponsor is carrying the 3-9 efr AO. Hear they're dandy mounted on springers, too.

I hunt tree rats with a pair of savages. 22lr fv in a mdt chassis and 8-32x50 scope and a hb 17mach2 with a 4-12x40 in a custom painted rattle snake pattern synthetic stock. Sometimes it wesrs the factory wood
Neither are as pretty as yours though
