I know three guys that bought these cheap stevens rifles and man are they nice , for the money. Ordered out of sir they are under $400 delivered.
2 of them in 243 and one in 223. All three I have been told buy the owners will shoot around or less that the 1 inch mark. They have adjustable triggers and composite stalks. Pretty good deals

I'll be considering a Savage next year. (3 kids kick the shi&* out of any surplus $$$$) But I'm a south paw who likes a detachable clip which makes things a little tougher.;)

I too have heard out of the box that they are pretty good.

And although the Stevens 200 doesn't have a detachable magazine, Savage 11/111 and 10/110 series models aren't as expensive as the main offerings from Remington, Winchester, Ruger, Browning, Tikka, etc. and some of those Savages have detachable magazines and some are available left-handed.

It seems you cant go wrong with a Stevens 200 for a cheap rifle that shoots well. Very good to hear.

I have yet to hold one in my hands, but from all reports they arent pretty, but they work.

Put a ding on the stock of my 602 out hunting this year in thick bush. Mad as hell. My old Savage 116 had many from several seasons of abuse, just adds character to the look of a working gun.

he's not asking a question, he is just stating that his friends have had real good luck with them.

how about you read more than the post topic

I am also considering to buy a Steven's 200 in 308 for paper punching and medium to long range deer hunting (100yrds to 250 yrds). It seems like a good deal, plus I think I could/would paint the stock black :)

i do not believe the stevens has an accutrigger.

from what ive seen at my range, guys that have a accutrigger on thier savages, actually say it doesnt really help them shoot any better. But this is was they told me. i have yet to try a accutrigger

I bought a Stevens in 25-06 as my first ever rifle and I had the trigger adjusted slightly, seemed easy to do when I watched the guy adjust it with one screw. I shot two mulie does both over 200 yards and they died, low recoiling and fun to shoot, regards FS

roadwarrior: the stock on my friends guns are really dark color, not sure if you have actually seen one but the stock is a dark grey almost blackish. Not sure that you would want to paint it. Also no accu trigger and no clip. Honestly though I have a gun that is top loaded, box-magazine, and it is no big deal. I can say that I am probably the worst guy for remembering where I put the damn clip anyway. You know the guns are accurate and very light ,so nice to pack around and the crudeness "if any" makes you only want to use it. I have some "pretty" guns and I hardly want to use them??
