Hi all. So I am looking for a new butt stock for a model 24D 30-30/20g Savage. I purchased what I was told was a 9/10 Savage 24 from another member on this site who failed to mention the unstable bilateral tang cracks on the butt stock. 2 30-30 rounds down and the cracks widened. I have tried to repair with Chair Doktor adhesive but it has not worked to stay together. I realize that Boyds carries them but they become fairly pricey with shipping and duty and I was also hoping for a synthetic option. if anyone new where I could a set of synthetic furniture or a wood butt stock it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried western gun parts for a new stock? Personally I would clean out the old glue that failed, open up the crack and use some high quality glue like urethane glue. And clamp it for a few days. Boyds has a wood butt stock for 74 us$. here:

Also Savage24.com has a forum where you can join in and post your question.

I think you have a savage 24v series D btw, as 24v was the centerfire version.

Thanks Larry for the lead. I rechecked my gun and it does have 24 D stamped on it... The nomenclature on these 24's is bizarre.
