New stock on my Remington 700 7mm

Jason, there is aloth of extra material, take it slow, let it alone for awhile, then go at it again, till you get it like you want. I do like the Desert sunset lamo job they got on their web page.
I got the 3 color camo unit when I did mine, and I found you gotta watch the forend cap not to take to much off on one side , and get that sling swivel stud centered. You will have fun with it. Did you get yours with a recoil pad installed, mine came with the one inch vented Pachmyr deluxe pad.

Levi Yes I did Figured you can't go wrong that way, just played with sanding it down and its really not that terrible, I see what you mean about going at it and leaving it. Should look sweet, I hope it looks as good as the one posted here!
I am putting it on a stainless Rem, An going to top her off witha 3x9 VXIII at a later date, I am sure I will have fun with it.
 
Powerage did you have to take much meat out from under the barrel to get your gun seated properly, I am at that step now, and it seems like shes going to need a serious grinding from the reciever stem to the end?
Looks like 1/8 of an inch right trough, the front seat screw won't make contact with the reciever, about 1/8 plus to high.
Just wondering if you did this as well?
Oh ya one more thing is hard to see in the photo did you free float yours from the barrel taper up? It seems to give that effect to mine.

I did have to take quite a bit off around the breach area but nothing at the end. Although i did smooth it out a little. Yes it is free float from the taper up. I think one of the reasons i had to take some off around the breach was because of the magnum caliber. Guys at richards said they don't make a magnum stock but a regular one just needed some touching up to fit proper.:confused:
 
Thanks Powerage seems like there the same cut, Going to varathane mine tonight, I think I will try the clear coat as well a few guys have done that and it seems to bring out the stock better.

I as well am going to wet sand between coats.
Well I just hope it looks as good as yours.
 
oops bad Idea to go with clear coat over varathane she blisterd on 10% of the area, but not terrible, looks like I got some wet sanding ahead of me as well, think I will go back to the varathane and finish up!

It is a Richards microfit Wildcat in Electric Blue laminate. I heard that the quality of their stocks was not so great but this one was excellent.

I had to do some customizing to it though as my gun has a removable magazine and they only make floorplate stocks. Was quite easy though. After all the sanding and fitting i put 3 coats of high gloss varathane and 6 coats of Automotive clear coat. I wet sanded the stock after the first three coats of clear. I think it came out great. Let me know what you think.:D

That's funny mine never blistered at all. I used a spray varathane gloss. Varathane brand also. Then automotive clear. Maybe if you used a different clear or something?
