New supernova jamming

Stay away from the Stoegers! You’ll be just as disappointed and down the road have little in resale value. Maybe look into an 870 or BPS? I’ve owned one Supernova and shot and handled a few belonging to friends. They never gave me any great feeling of confidence in them but then I was used to shooting model 12’s and the benelli’s I tried all felt like the slide bars were being dragged through sand. But then I find most of todays pump guns do.....

I second the 870 in one of the higher end models. Heck I have an Express that's been through alot the last 10 years and the only issue is the cheap clay shells will sometimes stick. No rhyme or reason and one case will have some stick a bit and others wouldnt. Any steel shot load has never ever even hinted it wants to stick. Dont ask me why cause they would have higher pressures. As far as pumps go I prefer the action on the 870

Too bad you ended up with gift cards. I guess thats a better alternative then having a gun you’re not happy with. There are some really nice autoloaders on the EE for very reasonable prices. Not sure how head bent you are for a pump, but if you’re looking to use this gun for waterfowling, I’d recommend using an autoloader.

Yeah it sucks but at least I have that much and am not waiting weeks on warranty return.

I'm not bent on a pump at all. The supernova fit the bill for everything I was looking for and happened to be a pump as well.

I'm on the fence about looking elsewhere and using those gift cards for something else vs. starting to look at autoloaders they carry which aren't that many.

The only one that really interests me continually as I look through reviews is the A400 but damn is that a lot more money than I initially set out to spend.

Maybe just get it over with and buy one? IDK... my head is spinning over this whole thing.

Your post made me glad I walked away yesterday. There seems to be so many good reviews on them, though with really bad ones peppered in here and there. That seems to be the trend with a lot of these new shotguns.

I looked at a wingmaster. I don't know... I just didn't like it in hand.

Whatever I end up with I'm going to have to spend a lot of time with. I'll be out at least 40 days this season waterfowling.

There is a beautiful Browning gold on the EE right now. A gun like that can be the last autoloader you buy. If you prefer a camo gun, there is a Browning Silver on the EE that is essentially the same design. Again, a gun that will last a lifetime

Not sure how I missed your post. They look like great deals.

My problem is I'm tied up in gift cards now. I've carefully considered just about every option and am actually considering getting another supernova.
I was seriously looking at the SXP and if it weren't for the bad reviews on Browning Canada's service it would be a done deal.
I figure with the Benelli, even if I'm unlucky and get a bad one again, I can get through this season loading one shell in the magazine and then I have 10 years of warranty to get it sorted out.
Kind of crazy after the amount of trouble I've had to go back... but it seems like the most logical move given the situation. I like how they shoot and out of what Cabela's sells there's no mid range autos I want or other pumps. Really thought hard about the a400 but I don't have the budget with other hunting gear required right now.

Crappy situation you are in here with season already started. I know it's nowhere near what you are looking for, but for a cheap way to get through the season, would you consider something cheap like a Mossberg Maverick? New is cheap, but can sell after season to recoup some money, or save some money upfront and buy a used one. They are not a pretty gun, but functional, take a beating, and fun to shoot. Did I mention they're cheap? But they are only good for up to 3" shells.

I just had a thought.....Im pretty sure that Bass Pro Shops now accepts Cabela’s gift cards. Maybe it’s worthwhile taking a trip to Bass Pro to see what they have as far as new guns

Yeah I definitely am considering cheaper options to get through the season, not quite as cheap as the maverick, but the 500 and the SXP.

Pretty good idea. I'm not really savvy enough to make a decision on my feet in the store though. I gotta run through info online before deciding.

So I came home with a Mossberg 930 today. So far so good. Buddy at the store says to disassemble and clean before shooting b/c packing grease which was totally unnecessary, it was all ready to go out of the box. Was a little aggravating getting it back together the first time but at least I'm learning the gun. Shot a box of shells no issues, and definitely hitting more clays than the supernova but I'm not using the same load so who knows how that and just learning to shoot better play into the difference. I think it fits better than the supernova but definitely has a lot more recoil.

Hopefully this is the end of my shotgun woes... we'll see.

I have a Mossberg 935 that I love. The gun is reliable and super easy to clean. I think you’ll love your new gun

As for the recoil, that is likely because of the load you are using. The 930 should have less recoil than the supernova if using the same loads because a lot of the recoil is absorbed via the gas system

That is great! Hopefully I get a lot of good service out of it.
Oh, I have definitely fired the same loads with the supernova just not at clays... definitely more recoil on the 930.
I can feel a little tiny bit of soreness in my shoulder after one box of shells. The supernova I'd shoot 2-3 boxes and nothin...

Thats strange. Gas autoloaders are usually known to have less recoil than fixed breach firearms. Is the 930 substantially lighter than the Benelli?

As for the 930, there is a lot of aftermarket support regarding parts, which is nice if you plan customizing yours. My 935 is my dedicated waterfowl and turkey gun. I bought extra barrels and a pistol grip stock so during turkey season, I swap the 28” barrel for a 24” barrel and swap out the stock with the pistol grip. Makes for an awesome and comfortable turkey rig

I'm glad it worked out. Lots of great reviews on the 930. Maybe the comfortech stock and some extra weight helped with recoil. You won't notice it in a hunting situation. If it becomes an issue invest in a high quality recoil pad later on down the road.
Good luck with your new purchase.

Last weekend my friend and I were at Silverdale be fine shotguns 305 308 carbines ksg 590s and yada yada... Out came the spx 930 from IrunGuns and it stole the show with accuracy with Slugs and light recoil with bird shot and 2 3/4 buck. 930 when they are a good one are a happy place.

The specs says they are roughly the same weight but in hand the 930 feels a little lighter to me.

I spent nearly the entire day on the water with it today, worked flawlessly. The recoil actually seems like it's improving, could that really be a break-in issue?

That's a nice stock you have there, how is swapping the stocks out with the mechanism in there?

Thank you! Recoil wasn't an issue today as you say.

Interesting. I'm very happy so far, have yet to try 2 3/4 though.
