New Target Rifle

Most people seem to run 32-33.5gr of varget behind a 105 hybrid in a Dasher. In the 6GT most people run 33-34.5gr of varget behind a 105. Velocity differences with the 105 seem to be 40-60fps where alot of people run them.
The biggest benefit of the 6GT over a Dasher - they tend to feed great from unaltered AICS mags. No need to buy follower kits or MDT 6BR mags. I've not heard of anyone having feed issues with a Dasher using the 6br/dasher MDT mags, so it's really a non issue if you don't mind paying for new mags.

Sorry, posted before I read your post. Yes, I agree. - dan

I think you’re splitting hairs here, but I’d go with a dasher for a single shot, even though I think they’d both feed fine from a magazine. For me it would come down to what kind of brass I could find and what reamer your gunsmith has.

I’m going by memory here, but I think the 6gt guys I was talking to used varget up to 105 grain and h4350 for anything heavier.

The hundreds of matches won yearly by Dashers is strong evidence that aspersions of a Dasher feeding problem are FUD.
I built my wife’s gun as a 6br and it has zero feeding problems with the mdt br mags. Most of the prs shooting seems to be 400-700 anyways which is perfect for the br case shooting 105s. Is there better cartridges? Yes, but she’s a fairly small frame and her gun is far lighter than most male competitors.

I'd stick with the straight 6BR for multiple reasons.

1) Lapua brass, the highest quality brass you can find.
2) Its proven reputation and known accuracy
3) Ease of finding components (dies, brass etc)
4) Barrel Life
5) Velocity

I know some think the BR is slow but not in my experience, it aint no creedmoor speed though. I run a 26" KS Arms 1-7.5 twist with 30.0gr of Varget and a 107gr SMK at 2875fps with 0 pressure and it shoots 1.3" at 600 yards. The BR is truly the "easy button" I hardly had to tweak my load. Everyone told me load 30.0gr of Varget, play with seating depth and enjoy and thats exactly what I did. Its a no brainer to me. Dont think you could pay me money to run a GT.

the issue with the 6BR is the 105's are very hard to spot hits past 700 yards. unless youre with experienced spotters, youre likely to lose points at a match because theres not enough energy to move the plate.

i see it at every match i go, for this reason i run the 6gt with 115gr bullets.

NEVER asked about a 6 BR - Don’t think you could pay me money to run a BR . 🤪😀 RJ

And where did the dasher come from…..that’s why I, along with others, suggested the BR.

I’m getting dasher velocity from my BR. Maybe 80 fps less, not enough of a difference to warrant the few extra grains of the dasher 🤷🏻‍♂️
