I just got my tavor and have not even fired it yet. my question is, when the mag is out and I cycle the charging handle, should I be able to pull the trigger and dry fire it ? I ask this as my tavor will not do this, the only way I can dry fire the rifle is to insert the mag, cycle the charging handle, press the bolt release and then pull the trigger.... Without the mag in, all I get when pulling the trigger is just that.. A trigger pull, no click of the trigger group releasing.. Nothing.. So my question is, is this normal or not.. And to clarify, the safety is in the fire position...

treat it rough! enjoy your new toy they are SWEET! also i highly recommend getting a take down wrench and learning to disassemble the rifle completely

Yea definitely riding that charging handle. I really don't understand why people do this? They baby it like it's bad for the gun or something. Just let the bolt slam home. Won't hurt it one bit! Have fun with her! As everyone else says they are wicked fun to play around with!

The best way to think of how you should run a semi auto is by looking at it when it fires. When the gun fires, that bolt rocks back and forward with a TON of force. That level of force needs to be applied when you handle the gun dry. Its designed to be run HARD!

Don't be discouraged by not knowing exactly how to handle your new gun, or wanting to be gentle with it. You paid a lot for it, it is understandable.

Look on the bright side, at least you aren't the guy that thought he was cocking his HK SL8 by simply flipping the folding charging handle out and back in. That was easily the saddest thing I've read on CGN
