New Tavor looking like a demo rifle

My brand new tavor came in and it look very handled and the two forestock screws cammed out. You can see where someone used a black sharpie to cover it up. If you bought a new Tavor what kind of shape did it arrive in? I have never seen a brand new rifle looking like this

Yea im very uneasy about the screws, who knows what was screwed around with. Im going to send it back, even on my dime I will feel better. I only saved $200 from in town so its just not worth it.
 
The sticker on the top right above the rubber butt pad is on all Tavors, its a tracking number for IWI's manufacturing and export operation. Should have the date your Tavor became a rifle on it.

Those screws though... thats not normal. At minimum the retailer should be getting a new set from North Sylva, the importer and give them to you for free.

Do a thorough fieldstrip and cleaning and see if you can find any other damage or irregularities. If not I see no problem keeping that rifle. Might be it was a display gun and was shown how easy barrel removal was or an aftermarket forearm was tested on it.
 
Ive seen hundreds of new guns and this one is not. Its dirty where you would normally pick up the rifle and hold it. Its either a customer return or a display model, in either case its not new. It was thrown into a box in the case with no extra padding, no peanuts nothing. I just shipped a $175 22 and I used bubble wrap on it.
 
Its from a sponsor here who Im going to give the benefit of the doubt too. I really would like to believe it just fell through the cracks or came from the distributor that way.

So it is dirty around the grip?
I got my tavor in the mail with no extra padding, nothing wrong with that.

I have to disagree, when I ship something out I wrap very well with extra padding and lots of tape. Everything I ship is exactly as described, I showed it to a neighbor (gal) who knows nothing about guns and she asked "I thought it was new".
Grip area, forgrip, magwell dirty, looks like someone played with it and showed a new fore stock or something and didnt bother to clean or replace the screws.

You have to remember most factory/manufacture test fire their guns before it is shipped out.
Maybe that is where some of the dirt is from.
 
Its dirty and loose... Sounds like we could get along. LAWL. Seriously though, its a battle rifle. I hope your going to put it though its paces. If you purchased to put on a shelf then sure, send it back. If you picked it up to shoot it. Take into bush, run and gun, use in anyway.... It will get dirty and maybe even a safe kiss... scary things for a rifle proven in battlefields to have to be put through. Screws get loose. Carry a multi tool... If you don't ever need to remove that screw, loktite. Problem solved... Even a mid loktite on ones you do plan on taking out cant hurt and will help. Id say take apart, clean. Anything broken or damaged. Send back. It could be a display model... Just look at the parts that move/slide if they have wear and arnt that nice pristine black... Maybe a bit of wearing to silver or something then yes its been used as display (people workin action) or shot.

100% would ask for new screws though.

Yep I plan to put it through its paces. However I want to be the guy that get it dirty or dinged. If I had been informed it was a display model then I would have asked for a discount and been perfectly happy.

As it is I am going to send it back and buy at the local shop. I can get one there $200 more. To be fair I dont think this one was shot but I expect a new gun to look new. I have sold guns for years so I have seen a few of them!

I think its interesting that the same people who would be incensed about a used rifle not living up to description seem to be ok with a brand new one not doing so.

No, just no. It doesn't matter if you're planning to fly out to fight isis with it, you paid NEW gun price for a gun that is new. Why should you get a used gun for new money and be happy with that? It makes no sense, if it does I've got a couple of sweet deals on cars for you.

yep just called them and asked for a return number. I will even pay for the shipping myself, I am very disappointed I gotta say. By the time I pay for the shippiong back it will cost me about $300 more to buy locally. For the record I have been buying online for many years (yep Im old) and never sent anything back before.

I bought a new truck last year and a new suv for the wife this year and in neither case did they came muddy and with miles one them. If they had had a scratch or missing something then I would have asked for a discount. I dont think im being unreasonable here, I spent a great deal of money to buy a new rifle and thats what I want. End of story.

I would inform them you are not happy with the used rifle they sold you as new and that they are taking it back along with paying/covering all costs for wasting your time. This of course after you hear their side of the story and do not offer to do the above.
