here is my new tikka i purchased from jobrook it has a leupold 4-12x40 and a harris bipod put a few boxes of rounds through it yesterday. It took about 2 boxes before i could even hit the target at 100yds ahha. After i got it sighted in it shot really well off the bipod. I may head out today and put it on the bench and see what kind of groups i can get. thanks jobrook good dealing with you guys. there is a pic of it in the link below

I'm confused..you said it took two boxes before you could hit the target. What changed after two boxes that it started shooting consistently?

I see a loooooooot of guys at the range that will come out and try to bore sight at 100 yards right away. I've never taken more than 5 shots to get it pretty close to the poa at 100. Bore sight at 25, shoot. correct for centre, shoot. move to 50, shoot. correct, shoot. move to 100, shoot.

either way congrats on your purchase! I have a friend with the same rifle and I'm sure you'll love it, great for long hikes!!!

yeah i dunno couldnt even hit the target at 100yds with the first box. tikka guarantees 1" moa out of the box dont quote me on that!!! whether or not the bore sighting was off because i had to do some major scope adjustments just to get it on the paper. Once i had it on the paper i could dial in the scope, mind you i was shooting off my bipod. but im not that bad of a shot lol. i checked and my rings were tight and secure. so i just need to put it on a rest and shoot it to get it zeroed at 100.

If I missed the paper on the first shot, I'd re-bore sight, if even just by looking down the bore. You'd have saved yourself 19 rounds. Just trying to offer some helpful and money saving advice for next time.

My T3 is identical to yours except for the glass.
Mine was sighted in on the second round, it wears an old, beat-up 12X Leupold in Talley rings.
My method is to use the bore sighter when mounting the scope and at the range I pull the bolt, eyeball the target, center the bore on the bullseye and while holding the gun steady in that position, I adjust windage and elevation to the same point.... usually the first round fired will land on paper regardless of rifle.
Best group to date with mine is sub- 1/4 MOA with a 60 gr. Sierra.

I have the stainless in the same gun & caliber. Mine shoots my home made V Max ammo at .75" over 100 yds consistantly. I just love that gun. The trigger is easy to adjust. Mine is set at about 1.5 lbs. As a target gun, it holds its own but the relatively light barrel will get hot and throw off your accuracy. I let mine cool every 4-8 rounds if I'm looking for tight groups.
