I think you would be surprised how little difference it 'could' make.

In the testing done by this person 10 years ago the 142gr MatchKing was slightly faster (6fps) in his 24" vs 26".
120gr A-tip the 26" had a 31fps increase over the 24"
Different barrel than the Tikka of course. He comments on the possible errors and such in the article.

It's true that the jump from 24" to 26" is far less consequential than say from 20", but velocity and forward balance are generally net advantages for a long-range precision rifle
