New to 12ga Reloading - advice needed

800x is the worst metering powder out there for shotgun reloading and dirty to boot. If you had any real experience with reloading shotgun you would know it is for heavy field loads and handgun not shotgun target loads. Nobody uses it for that if they use it at all
Hope you are going to weight every drop since you have to with it all over the place

The general concensus of 800X is that it is one of the poorest metering powders in existance. It has the consistancy of miniature cow patties, burns dirty as any you ever saw.

Yup. If you were making a list of powders not to use in 12ga target loads, 800x would be in the top 3. Heavy field loads is the only thing 800x is useful for.

Can you even imagine trying to get it to meter even close in a progressive shotshell machine. It is almost impossible in the single stage
I was shocked Hodgdon kept making it after they bought out IMR. Wonder how many serious shotshell reloaders ever bought a second can

I bought the first pound to use for shotgun and ended up using it mostly in pistols. I have bought more since then for pistol but never for shotgun and wouldn't even consider it.
