Hey guys,

Not by any means new to firearms or shooting, but I am new to getting into competing. Aside from firearms and ammo, what do I actually need to compete? Is there a mandatory course like black badge, or can I just register?

Also, what should I bank on having for a minimum amount of handgun and AR mags?

How much ammo does one shoot per match?

Cheers guys,

3 Gun Matches vary a lot from province to province and even range to range. There are a wide variation in match rules and what is or is not permitted. For example, one club I shoot at has a rimfire division but most don't. I haven't heard of any range requiring Black Badge for 3 gun. Best you contact whichever range you will be shooting at and see what there rules and requirements are.

For magazines I run 5 LAR mags for my AR and 4 mags for my Glock. I shoot for fun so I use a chest rig with pouches for 4 rifle mags and 3 pistol mags. One rifle and one pistol mag goes in my drop pouch and I use those for "load and make ready". Most stages this is over kill, but it's my standard.

I use a Remington 870 usually and have a 6 round side saddle on the shotgun and a 6 round holder on my chest rig. I just dump loose shotgun shells in my drop pouch. If a stage requires rifled slugs I always carry the rifled slugs on my chest rig and not in the drop pouch to avoid any problems with loading a slug for a target requiring shot.

Thanks! I have an su16 enroute, I realize that it's not the best, but it's a good NR start and takes at mags, so I can practice and a quarry close by. Also have a block 22 and my hatsan optima 7+1. Watching YouTube getting jacked
