Hi all, I'm fairly new to guns and have definitely never owned a battle rifle, just wondering where I would find a list of non-restricted ones so I know what I can look at buying. I have read a few threads on em, just wondering what some of my options would be for a fairly cheap start.

Well, when you go to buy a rifle at your local gunshop, they will quickly tell you whether it is restricted or not. Pretty much all the AR platfform semi's are restricted. The Nork/Polytech M14's, the Ruger Mini-14's, the SKS's, Tokarev SVT-40's are all non-restricted.
