Hi all,

Don't have a ton of time behind guns but I am slowly getting into it now. My father shot lots during the 80s and 90s at local shoots and did very well. He still has all the loading equipment so I figured I'd give it a shot with a savage 223 model 12.

3 shot group at 100 yards with 55gr Hornady v-max.

5 shot group at 100 yards. Win fire formed brass, CCI 400 primers, V-Max 50gr and 24.5 G Hod H322 powder. ( First time hand loading )

Had a blast last Saturday trying out the gun with hand load ammo. My father has a few guns in 6ppc that I will be shooting too in the near future.

Let me know what you guys think? I am in love with this 223 after these shots but still think there is more to be achieved.

Cheers

wow...great start for sure!!! i've got a Model 14 in .223 that is beggin to be tested. your pics have now inspired me to take her out and "stretch" this weekend with some home rolled ammo.

Thanks man! With some better brass and some matched bullets I am sure it will do better. Got some nice bench rest primers and Hornady A-Max brass that I am going to load up next time.

Welcome to .223, it is a world of fun and never gets old. With the huge variety of bullet choices, there's not much this round can't do. Not a bad start reloading either!
