I know it's weird, but between the vz58 pattern rifles, and the type 81, I chose the type 81 almost entirely because it's hammer fired. There are other things I've mentioned before like the galil-ish front sight, and overall simplicity...also, the stock furniture looks better in my opinion.

If I could have afforded it at the time, I would have bought a CZ 858 3 years ago, but now that I can afford it, I still can't afford both

Nope its not, I'd roughly the same as a VZ.

Yes I know as I've held it and molested it for several hours at TI's booth a few months back

Its rivitedinto the rear trunion, so no with a "but" or yes with an "if"

The sample guns stock is painted, the production models should be a bit lighter like most wood on norinco products

Any idea if this rifle will have a 2-stage military trigger or a long squishy single stage?

Bfiles would know, about the one submitted for frt anyway......he fingered it for long enough at the big debut!!!

Watching people on YouTube shoot this rifle it appears to be both. First stage is very lite. Second stage long with a 1/4" of creep before the sear trips.

I can't recall exactly what the trigger is like but I suspect a single stage.
