It's sad that we as firearms owners have such a fear of the government and the RCMP. Are they going to take our guns? Well they already started with this 858. And before we even GOT them. Just you watch, we will get the Type 81 and they will find a way to ban it. Then the rest of the 858s, then type 97s, then the Tavor, then the SKS... and then all semi-automatics. I mean, this isn't going to happen next week or next year but with the way things are going it probably will happen. The technicality they found with the 858 is so crazily small they will find a way

Good point. Although if the federal government can reclassify guns over the RCMP, whose to say they won't reclassify things in the wrong direction. If we can get the Conservatives back in that would be ideal

They are on record saying that the decision should just be in the hands of rcmp, so i doubt the government will do anything, just blindly agree to rcmp decisions. We are likely to not have any government help with this one.

They are rapidly running out of time. The Type 81 was classified non-restricted in March or April - that is almost 10 months. Under new regulations brought in by the Tories and not repealed by the Liberals, a firearm cannot be re-classified to a more restricted class once 12 months have passed since it was originally classified.

I wonder if TI is waiting that out specifically for this very reason

And it was rescinded by Goodale the first thing he took over the office.

The earliest mentions I can find of the NR classification are Feb 4. So they have less than a month.
