Hello ladies & Gents
New to gun world and super excited
I have completed my safety course
And now am waiting to get my PAL.
I have been doing some reading and decided to
Start this journey with a 22LR rifles
2 guns that have my mind set on to start
Are the Ruger 10/22 and the Derya tm
Would love to hear some thought on both of them as starter guns. Love to hear the feedback

I'd recommend a bolt for your first.
That said, 10/22 all the way for a semi. Endless aftermarket parts and stocks.
I have one and it gets used less than my bolt 22lrs but I wouldn't go without one in my collection.

I’m assuming you just want to do some plinking and get used to firearms ? In which case either will work. I do personally prefer a 10/22 just for the aftermarket world but most people don’t heavy mod their first rifle.

Thanks for the reply. Yes as for starters just wanna familiarize my self with maintenance and
Practice target shooting for now.Would love to get into long range eventually.

I am a new sport shooter myself. My 10/22 works great for plinking and teaching others about the basics of firearms. I have never owned a TM22, but some selling points are the aluminium handguard and receiver (instead of polymer), 25-round magazines that work (instead of 10-round mags or using a trimag), looks tactical and comes in different colours (instead of basic synthetic or wood stock). Either option would be a great first rifle. I might lean towards a 10/22 because of its track record for reliability and aftermarket support. I bet in 2 years the TM22 will have more aftermarket parts, and Derya will likely make a newer model that addresses any shortcomings that shooters may have found with the original.
