Okay, so i got my lee factory crimp die .. i turned it in 1/2 turn after it touched the case holder and then 1/4 more of a turn. I am getting a barely noticable ring around the case neck about 0.030" below the top of the brass (where the bullet goes in) that measures approx. 0.329-0.328" in dia.

Is this enough crimp? too much crimp? I am loading for a M14 and they are pretty rough on brass and bullets...

EDIT the case neck (same spot) is measuring 0.335" pre-crimp .. so it looks like i'm gettin about 6-7 thou.

You don't really need a crimp if the case necks hold the bullet properly. However, if you do crimp, it doesn't need or take much. Your's sounds ok.

I crimp my .223 and the description you gave sounds very similar to how my .223 rounds turn out. More often then not the resizing of the neck is enough to hold them in adequately, adding a light crimp is just the icing on the cake.

Are you using bullets with a cannulure?
