Hello.
Im new to hunting and never shot outside of a range. I would like to join someone for duck or goose hunting in Ontario, someone that has a bit of experience and that can show me a few tricks, does and donts. I live in Richmond hill which is just north of Toronto. I would greatly appreciate it if I would be able to tag along to someone and learn a few things.
Please let me know.

Thank you.
Roy

There are a few folks from your area on here. I hope you get some luck with that!

Lot's of geese down that way! I used to live in Sarnia, 1000's of them there.
Good luck man

I'm relatively new at it too, only having gotten serious about waterfowling in the last two years.

Have you shot skeet?

A veteran duck hunter got me into it and he says I have really been improving my wing shooting.

You'd be way ahead of 90 percent of the other duck hunters he tells me, if you do two things:

1. Pattern your gun with diferent loads so you know what works best in it

2. Practice with skeet shooting. You get used to your gun and learn how to lead and swing through in a variety of target presentations at 8 different stations.

3.) more important than all else, get in lots of time on the water. Trap and skeet will help, but they wont do what a duck does. Watch them during the off season, and send alot of pellets in the air during duck season. Yes young rabbit, you will learn.

+1 on what MD says, skeet will definitely help your shooting success around decoys. When you do get out in the marsh/field, the last thing you want to see after all your effort is empty hulls and an empty game bag.

I'm sure somebody will volunteer to take you along on a hunt so you can get an idea of equipment, setup, habitat, calling, shooting range, hiding, blinds, decoy patterns, etc. In one morning you'll learn so much your head will spin.
