Hi Guys,

I'll be going to my first F Class shoot next weekend and I was wondering if anyone had any advice they may want to share.

I was out this weekend practicing with the TRG 21 in .308 using 168 gr MKs at 300 yards and was scoring 5-Xs, 3-10s and 2-9s in an average string. Wind didn't seem to play too much of a factor but groups were starting to open up by the end of the session (approx 60 rds). This may have been fatigue or barrel fouling.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ivo

168's are made for 300m ISU shooting. They may work out to 600, start to get iffy around 800 and are complete sh*t at 1000. Go with 155's.
If you can see a wind change, you have to do something. Doing nothing will put you in the 4 ring.
If you aim off more then the edge of the bull, chances are it will go there. Use you wind knobs and aim at the center, keep track of where you are on the knobs.
Have fun and send us a report back on how you did. Remember you are shooting against yourself.:)

Ivo, take along a notebook and record your scope settings for future use. Make sure that you know what your scope settings are when zero'd at 100 yds, and count how many minutes you are from having the elevation and windage knobs bottomed out. This way you can always return to that 100 yd zero and KNOW that it is right, and then adjust your scope accordingly. It is easy to be out 1 full turn on your adjusting knobs, and if you don't have it wrote down you will be one frustrated dude.
Make sure that you put powder in all of your reloads???
If you don't have one, get a guide advising you on elevation changes required for different distances with a 308. Use it religously, always based on your 100 yd zero.
Hopefully there will be other first timers at the range also, it will boost your confidence with some freindly competition.
And don't get discouraged if things don't work out as anticipated. We have all gone through our teething problems and this year the best out there will do there own fair share of cussing. Right Guys??
