I’m sorry but your question is impossible to answer.
Better you tell us what guns you researched and we give our opinions.
Make sure to include price range, type of action ( single, single/double, striker etc.), type of gun ( pistol, revolver, derringer etc.), what you want it for ( target shooting, IPSC, IDPA etc), what features you like in a handgun....
I think you should practice shooting first before getting into more expensive guns perhaps some range time with 22's till you can see what your preference is..Fair enough. I looked into glock 17s and 19s, Sig p226 and p320 mostly. Looking to use it for target shooting at a range for now. As for price range, I'd like to stay under $1500. I just want something that's accurate and reliable.

If it’s just for target shooting, you’ll want the best trigger and accuracy. Glocks, and most striker fired guns are super simple and reliable but, as a rule, have combat accuracy. The sights and trigger are also more suited for “ combat” use.
My recommendation, in your price range, would be a CZ Shadow SP-01 with the fiber optic sight in a metal gun or the Walther PPQ Match in a polymer gun. Both, arguably, have best in class combined trigger and accuracy for their price and are super reliable.
If you choose to compete later on, they will work well also.
I’m a huge Glock fanboy and I’m making the above recommendations so take it for what it’s worth. Enjoy the hunt!
Agreed on the CZ Shadow for sure. I've not tried a PPQ Match but they look good too—my most accurate polymer pistol was an H&K USP Expert in 9mm, although they're quite rare. Of all the commonly-available pistols in my collection now, I'd say I'd prefer my P226 Legion for casual target shooting.
I’m gonna agree with Still Alive and Master G.
When you stated your budget the first thing that came to mind was the Shadow 2. Can’t go wrong and if you find you don’t care for it, you can easily sell it here in the EE and move to something else.
Good luck with the search. Be forewarned, one is never enough.
Keep us posted as to what you get and how you like it.
Sorry, man, I've got to disagree with you there.CZ Shadow SP01 or Shadow 2. Unless you fancy 1911s, there’s nothing else worth even considering for a target shooting handgun.
While I do love the feel of my small-gripframe P320 I do OK with bigger handguns, too, and I've got small hands. The only one that presented a problem was the DA pull in a CZ97 with factory grips. Even the H&K Mk23 and Desert Eagle are more manageable to me than that one. I've got to rotate some a bit to hit the mag release but I've never had an issue with trigger reach on double-stack pistols.#1 question: How big are your mitts? Double stack 9s can be a handful if your hands aren't at least average, so that may make Sigs, Glocks and Shadows too big to shoot comfortably and well.
