Hey all, been lurking since joining and haven't felt the need to post until now lol.

I bought 2 new S&W mags for my M&P 9mm today and obviously they were the devil's #*$&@^ to load, but the other issue I'm having is when inserting them into the firearm, they fit awkwardly at the base of the magwell and I really have to SLAM them into the gun to get them to lock in place. Is this normal for brand new mags? I also notice the finish on them is matte while the included mags are polished.

I have both matte and polished mags for mine, there is a different shape follower used between the two but otherwise both function fine.
Slightly trimming the "legs" on the base of the follower will help in both loading and locking into place on a closed slide.

No idea on the awkward fitment you describe though....

This is why some folks prefer pinned mags over factory 10rnd mags. Not sure if the M&P are pinned or factory 10rnders. I know on one of my pistols (non M&P), if I load 10, it's a b!tch to cycle the slide from a close slide. To get the mag in, I have to give it a good slap and really sling-shot the slide.
