I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the hunting faq so feel free to move it mods. I've been shooting for years but have recently decided to get into hunting. I'm wondering about what courses I need. I have my Pal. I live in the Edmonton area. Any help is much appreciated.

You should take the Hunter Safety Course offered by AHEIA (Alberta Hunter Education Instructor's Association.)

You can do this in person or online via their website. That will prepare you to hunt, as well as 'qualify' you to purchase hunting licenses. You will need to purchase a WIN (Wildlife Identification Number) card; you can do this when you go to get your licenses/tags at any vendor, or online.

wow, that is amazing. You can do the course right from your own home. Thanks for your help. Would you recommend going out hunting with an expirienced hunter to gain expirience before going off on your own? I have quite a few friends who hunt so I think I'll do that regardless.

Thanks

If you've never hunted, you will gain immeasurably from the experience of a seasoned hunter.

You can learn a lot by reading here and on other forums, and a live hunt with someone experienced will set you well down the right path.

Good luck and good hunting.
