New to hunting

I just got my PAL and what to go deer hunting in the fall. Dad handed down a winchester 308 semi. I haven't seen it yet. I am also on the look out for a nice little .22 for the lambs, before they turn to mutton.

Welcome! Whereabouts are you from? Most areas have a club that will connect you with all the community and hunting partners you could ever need.

Also, unless I'm missing some part of your post, most places have limitations on calibers for hunting... and farmers don't like it when you hunt their livestock


Other than that, I'd recommend getting on getting tested for whatever your local hunting course is, as in some areas the course isn't offered that frequently, and they take forever to issue you your hunting papers. Best to have them in order long before the fall rolls around.
