It would certainly be fun, and I would be the last person to try to talk anybody out of buying a particular kind of rifle that you would like to get.

If you would like to shoot long range, I would suggest that you get a .308W. Could be instead of a ..338Lapua/50BMG, it could certainly be in addition to a 338 or 50 - the important thing is that you get a plain old boring .308 just like everybody else has.

The reason for suggesting a .308, is that you will get to do more shooting (and therefore you'll learn more, and be a better long range shooter). There are some lessons that a .338 teaches better; there are many lessons that a .308 teaches better.

Welcome to long range plinking/recreational-shooting/target-shooting/competition/etc.!

ok lets say i was in the market for a .308w , already have a 308 in lever and 300 savage lever, but wanted a bolt rifle, what would you look to buy (price range 1000+) tikka ?savage? rem? was looking at a savage mod 10ba or 110ba
