Well last week I finalized the deal on a very slightly used 687eell diamond piegion sporting with 30" barrels. it only had 75 round through it when I got it. I have not really shot it yet so I can't comment on shooting it but it sure looks pretty!!! I did take it out and shoot it into a snow bank as an inpomptu patterning! So with 4 shots under the belt I can't say much. Just handling it, it is very light. I have had it side by side with a 686 sporting and the 687 seems much lighter even though by specs it is over a pound more. The balence point is right on the hinge. It seems like this will be a fast handling gun. I actually find my tekny's even a little more forward heavy! There are a few minor marks in the but and forend but nothing serious or noticable.

So the up's are

1 outstanding wood with high gloss finish (yeah I like it some don't)
2 great case - fully padded, two metal latches and a combination lock in the center
3 fit is nearly identical to my tekny's (I will have it fitted one day)
4 nice floral pattern with engraving covering almost all exposed surfaces
5 adjustable trigger
6 ventilated side rib
7 center bead
8 extra recoil pad
9 stock wrench that fits throught he recoil pad so the pad doesn't need to get removed to remove the stock

The downs
1 only five choke tubes - come on this quality of gun should come with more
2 choke tubes not extended - these are the flush mount optima chokes, on a sporting competition gun I think they should be extended for ease of removal
3 Plastic choke tube wrench !!!!! - come on this is just plain silly on a gun in the 7k to 8k range if bought new. It should be metal no question!!!
4 center bead is almost too large it basically covers the entire hi viz front sight when aligned correctly

well here are some pics with the tekny's next to it. that will be it until the spring when I actually get to us it!!

Well these are certainly never going to be dragged through the woods, I've got a pump for that!

After a season and a bit with the tekny's I can count the two dings I've put it in (thanks bat, hope your reading cause your one!! lol). I'll admit that I baby everyting that I own, i hate to see marks in the stocks!

Ya osborne some body had to ding that Tekny's 'cause you were WAY to gentle with it.:) Man I'm green with envy. A beautiful pair (socks too) Are ya going to take a chance and let me test that 687 for ya?

Hey! I thought you Newfies only shot rusty 870's and wore rubber boots:D

Beautifull wood and metal:) Hope it shoots as good as it looks! I've tried several 687's but I've always managed to shoot better with those ugly Citori's:( Don't worry about those tubes. If you feel the need for more or better/different, Briley and others make good aftermarket stuff. Good shootin to ya!

That is a shooting work of art you have there. I love it! I thought my 687 Sporting looked good until I saw yours. Congrats on a fine acquisition.

Laugh it up about my socks, I was too lazy to edit them out. I even ready pharaoh's post too fast and thought it said stock. I'll know better for next time. Thank the GF for them beign nice she bought me a new pack of tube socks last week LOL. what a women. Guess I was lucky to have them on today!!

Well! The nice thing about a 687EELL is that it goes well with everything:dancingbanana:
