Hi all,
Until now, I'd not owned or even handled a Browning Auto-5. On a whim, I had purchased a Japanese-made Auto-5 12ga barrel with Invector Plus chokes, but I had no luck tracking down a receiver, so ended up reluctantly and regretfully parting with the barrel a couple months ago.
Lo-and-behold, I recently happened upon a Browning Auto-5 Sweet Sixteen and bought it sight-unseen. It just arrived yesterday, and I'm tickled pink --- beyond the interesting long recoil system and lovely build quality, I'm excited to make my first foray into the world of 16ga.
This particular shotgun is from 1990 and has a 28" vent rib barrel with Invector (standard) chokes. It weighs 7lb 8oz and balances on the front edge of the receiver. I'm planning to use it for grouse next season.
A surprise was that it came with the original box, but it's mixing a couple of tidbits. I have the manual and the 3 original choke tubes, but I think there's a missing sheet metal choke wrench (covered over by the manual in the picture), maybe another part on top of the choke wrench, and something that goes in the foam cutout between the receiver and barrel. Can anyone with an Auto-5 of this era confirm what I'm missing as I'd like to put together a complete box.
Anyways, I've read the other forum threads on the Sweet Sixteen, so hoping some of you will enjoy the pictures.
