A while ago I picked up a CIL 300 (says Anschutz-Marocchi actually) and finally got a chance to give it a good cleaning. I’ve been hoping to pick one of these up for a long time. It appears complete and in excellent condition. Bore is mirror bright. Seems to have had very little use. Barrel stamp has a 68 within an antler so 1968? And also very interestingly, the serial number is 0000xx!

Will try it out this weekend, but it seems to cycle test rounds well enough. Very excited!

Yup, the antler designates the Ulm proof house .

Back in the early 70's when these first came out I was doing the warranty for CIL in Calgary at Barotto Sports.
I worked on hundreds of these. It was a problem rifle. Biggest complaint was shells blowing up while shooting, blowing the bottoms of magazine and extractors disappearing. This was an ongoing problem as the rifle went through various model designations with a screw retaining the extractor system and a shell deflector to help keep the shrapnel away from your face. Barrels, breech bolts, blown magazines were replaced. As far as I am concerned I would never consider owning/shooting that model. Wear eye protection for sure.
 
Good info gunny. I’d put it in the collector level so it won’t see a lot of use. But I’ll stay with standard velocity and target ammo.
 
Had mine for awhile very accurate.
Never a problem. Shocked to hear so many did.

Blew 2 extractors out of mine with WinT22 ammo. Sold the rifle for $35.00 with full disclosure. I see I’m not the only one with problems.
 
Got a couple of them ,no problems, knock on wood. Also have the updated model with “blow out” holes on the other side of the receiver
 
I owned one and it blew the rim off more than a couple cases and sprayed gas/brass out of the receiver. I sold it back to the original seller, actually a trade in on another Annie bolt gun!
 
Well did a quick function test over the weekend. All good, no catastrophe. Had a couple of fte and a couple stovepipes. After a little investigating I found the magazine to be gummy. Ive since cleaned it out well and will test again. But cycles nicely. Pics soon.
 
Its in nice shape. Interesting discussion on all the problems with these in the past. I owned one back in the day and recall it was a good shooter. Didn't shoot much though so never had the issues described above. I always liked the handling and feel of them. Good luck with it.
 
You’re right about handling and feel. Very solid and feels full-sized. Metal receiver like a shotgun puts a lot of mass in the middle.

After looking i see that mine is actually a model 470
Outward appearance is slightly different
Not sure about the bolt and trigger but the mag looks the same
