New to me Inglis.

While I've owned FN and Browning HPs over the years, the Inglis is new to me and I'm trying to figure out a few things. I've done some searching and answered a few of my own questions but still have a few. I saw this site recommended on TFL, so here I am. (For the record, while I'm a US citizen, I have lots of family in Toronto and Windsor.:D)

My example is stamped MK 1* on the left side of the frame. The serial number, 1T279X, matches on the frame, slide, and barrel.

Can anyone tell me when it was made?

Overall the weapon seems to be in very good condition. The original grips are gone, it came with Hogues, and the lanyard hardware and ring are gone. Someone also removed the magazine safety and I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not.

Any idea where I could find original grips and lanyard hardware?

I fired it for the first time today and it was VERY accurate. I fired a mixed bag of ammo types and weights all with excellent results. So far, I'm impressed.

Would you recommend changing out all the springs? I'm guessing they're at least 60 years old. Also, the recoil spring guide has a notch in the top of it (looks like the top of a flat head screw) were the recoil guides notched?

Hi Jack19
Your No2 Mk1* was made August 1944 in Toronto try Gun parts or Marstar for parts. My Hi Power was made sept 1944 and I still use same springs.
Enjoy Cheers

Our Southern cousins are more than welcome here.
The lanyard 'hardware' is just a ring in a threaded stud. Marstar does list the lanyard swivel and walnut grips. $19 and $55Cdn respectively. You may find that the pistol is a bit small for your hand with the wooden grips.
Leave the springs alone. Falls under Rule Number One. If it works, don't fix it.
If you put in the mag safety, your trigger pull will increase significantly. The plunger comes out the back of the trigger and is pushed in by the magazine when it's put inserted. Hence, you have spring pressure pushing on the trigger as the plunger rubs along the mag. With it in, you will not be able to fire the pistol without a mag in the pistol.
Add the w's and go here. .marstar.ca/
