Well, after several year of looking and drooling, I finally bought my first M14, thanks to a standup CGN'r. I hope to take it out tomorrow and have some fun with it.

The previous owner replaced the op rod guide with an S&J Hardware unit.

My question is in regards the the clinics that are held every so ofter. I am having a hard time finding any info on these. Does Hungry have a thread here on cgn of the dates and times? If so I can't find it. Any help would be appriciated finding this info. Thanks

Oh. Btw. It is a 2009 model in a black synthetic stock. Off now to clean and grease her up.

Hungry now goes under the name Tactical Teacher. Do a search and PM him. Great guy and very helpful.

Also, welcome to the addiction!:p

Thanks. I will see what I can pull of here at home. Likely I will try to attend one more central to the Barrie Newmarket area.

I shot it on the weekend and am hooked!! What a fun rifle to shoot. When I got home I started to tinker with it. I removed the gas plug to see where it the thing tighten up. Snug and tight at the 10 oclock position. That sucks. Lets have a look at the flash hider. No weld spots. Removed the set screw and unthreaded the castle nut. Off the FH came. That was easy. Hmmm I wonder. Removed the gas plug figire 8 things. ( sorrry can't think of the technical name). Flipped it over and stuck it back on. Snug at the 4 oclock position and tight at 6 oclock. Right on!! Put everything back together. Pulled apart the rear sights. Lubed them up. And put them back together. Seems to work fine, but the markings are too hard to see. Hmmm. White crayon and clear nail polish to the rescue
I filled in all the number and dash marks with my daughrers white crayon,, cleaned away the spots where I colored outside the lines and went over it all with a light coat of my wifes clear nail polish. Ahh much better.

Now I want to shoot it again.

I think I am addicted. Do they have an M14 anonymous group?

WTF(ornication)? You had an unwelded FS ? That's a first for me... that's all I know working with real USGI M14's and M1A's. :D

Good that your rear sights actually came back together, usually the chinese rear sights are pure Krap and have to be replaced. Good that you did the white crayon method. I raided the local day care's crayon stash to find FOUR white crayons in BRAND NEW condition. I asked the (good looking young) female day care staffers (next to my high school) for this access. It cost me a few Timmy's but I'm gtg now. :p

Grease that baby up? It's all in the FAQ's above all these posts.

BTW, you are in Newmarket, ON, once school starts, come on up here to West of Barrie and we'll give that M14 a once over. Just cost ya a bottle of JLohr (California Cabernet) at the LCBO and we'll have ya sorted out. :)

Cheers,
Barney
