New (to me) P210

Ok guys need a no shXt opinion. I've had X5's for years, I've tried an original P210,,,,,and was very excited to have it lent to me for a while. I just couldn't shoot it as good as my X5.

Is this just not enough time on a P210? or is there going to be any difference in practical accuracy between the two? The old P210's were tested at 50 meters. The test target shown for the current P210 is at 25 meters and larger than any of my X5 test targets.

Thoughts ?

I still love....want to love...the P210, especially the new German ones with the improved frames / beaver tails.

Based on the conversations I've had with gents that have owned both and from what I've read, your experience is probably more common than not. The X5/6 level 1 guns do have exceptional triggers - generally lighter than the P210s. The German P210 Target and Supertarget versions have lighter triggers than Legends or non-adjusted Swiss service guns, but still not quite as light as the X5/6. For me, I have a hard time telling the difference in accuracy between my 210 Supertarget and X6s, but I shoot them all a little better than my 210-6 target.

And as for me, all my Sigs shoot better than I can! Sad but true. Not that I'm a terrible shot, I think it's more a fading eyesight thing than anything (thinking of springing for prescription shooting glasses, my oldest daughter works for an optometrist and can get me a deal....). But I digress. I have a P220 Match Stainless Elite, and I can shoot it pretty good already, but I still shoot better groups with my P220 Equinox. Why??= Because I can really see that bright front sight. I shoot all my Elites consistently well, whether in 9mm, .40, or .45. I find the triggers all very very similar on all of them as well. This is primarily what has kept me from dropping big coin on a P210 or X5, they aren't going to make ME any better. But then again, they would make my collection better! This is a sad admission, but I can shoot just as nice groups with my Sigs, as I can with my Custom Shop tuned Python, shooting single action. You can't hit what you can't see.....I guess I should have got the P210 about 15 years ago when my eyesight was still 20/15!

Can't help with any serious P210/X5 comparisons just yet - tomorrow will be my first range visit with the 210, and will bring along the X5 for some more initial impressions on how they compare. But as mentioned above, all my Sigs shoot better than I, and I have the same issues with old(er) eyes *sigh*. I just recently swapped out the stock night sights on my 226 for a set of high vis fibre optic ones and those certainly are a lot easier to pick up and focus on.

Since I'm here, a few more detail pics :)

That gun is so disgustingly beautiful, I can hardly stand it. So, would you trade for a really nice (EX+) condition Colt Python? 6" blue....I have 4, but no P210s, and I'm thinking that may be an imbalance situation in my safe. Then again, those darn Colts seem to just get more and more valuable as they don't make them anymore....sigh. So many guns, so little time!

Ain't that the truth LOL! Saw your Colt collection pics in the other thread, you're not hurting! ;) But I'm thinking this P210 is a keeper too :)

Ready for a little range visit tomorrow A.M.....the Ruger is just for a little .44 Magnum BOOM BOOM fun to end it all off (along with some Buffalo Bore 340gn +P+ ammo)

No, I'm certainly not hurting....lol. That Canadian Edition X is sick by the way......

I seem to have developed a liking for Sigs lol. If you ever decide to sell something in a bright nickle keep me in mind!

Thanks!

Thanks again too, yes it's a wonderful addiction - I'm only into this less than a year now and it's a slippery slope LOL.

Yes it is....I have averaged about 8 a year since the bug bit me. You have been warned. BTW, did you get that Maple Leaf X Five from Corlanes? They had a couple there, I looked at and fondled one....I feel kind of dirty thinking I may have fondled your gun. LOL
