Picked up a minty older 527 varmint in .223, 1-12" twist. Just wondering what everybodys favorite loads are? I have some asorted winchester brass, some hornady 55grain vmax and 52grain bthp varget, h335, rl15, ect ect. anyone try the new .223 powder from hodgdon? basicaly I am looking for a load that will get me out to 300- 400 yards on coyotes. should I stay away from the winchester brass?

My 1:12 527 Varmint shoots well with Sierra #1385 40 grain HPs and WC 735 surplus powder. I tried a few different 55 grain bullets and found that accuracy was only so-so.

Tried the Sierra accuracy load with 52 SMK. 26.9 of H335. Sub MOA out of my gun. Very happy! I tried the 53 V-Max and couldn't get them to shoot nearly as well out of my gun.

I have been testing CFE 223 powder in my varmint rifles, .17rem, .204, .223 and .22-250 . To say that i'am impressed with the accuracy and speed, would be an understatement. It has kicked H-335 to the curb around here.

I bought all the CFE-223 that Rayner had and ordered a keg.

the 55 vmax seem to be shooting 'ok' around 1.5-2" at 225 yards(my zero range) with 27 grains of varget at 3220fps. And they seem to connect with milk jugs at 400+ yards with correct elevation and windage corrections. Crows, coyotes ect ect ect all just seem to die. Wanting to try some 50grain zmax bullets in the 500 count box if I can find some. Will do more testing come spring summer, for now this will do nicely.
