New to reload, where do I start?

Case gauge is a great thing. it's basically a SAMI spec chamber you can test if your resizing properly and also check length too. I've invested in a DILLON550 to allow bulk reloads of .223 and pistol ammo, But the RCBS and slow time means better ammo for a better price.

Is all good - but I am typically loading for my chamber, as it is - do not really care about a number or what SAAMI has called out - do not really need another intervening plus or minus tolerance - so my sized cases fit my rifle's chamber properly or it doesn't. Why I do not use a "case gauge", but I fit every sized case to my rifle's chamber. I guess that makes my chamber into the "gauge" that I use??

Yup, but it's another tool towards accuracy, may also prove you have a chamber that's out of spec. Theres tools you may only need once or twice but having that tool is nice. I may only use mine occasionally but I deem them a good investment. Peace out!

Where to start?

Start with a buddy who loads. Buy a set of 8x57 dies (I like Lee) a pound of powder (748, BLC2, H335, H380) and some large rifle primers (Winchester if you use a ball powder) and buy a bag of bullets, and then let your buddy show you how to lube the case, size the cases, prime, drop powder and seat the bullets.

In any case you need a loading manual (start with the Start powder charge) and some You Tube time.
