Hello,
Just bought a Mec 600 jr off a fellow CGNer. I got a great deal, press, powder (promo, about 7pounds) a couple 100 shells, about 900 primer 209's and three boxes of DGS-12 slugs ( 1 1/8 oz )
Everything is for 2 3/4 ".
My question is can I reload for my 3" rifled Rossi and if I could, where would I start with powder loads.
The chart for the promo powder says 18-19 grains per load for 2 3/4 " shell with a 209 primer in a winchester AA shell, with an 1 1/8 oz load.
I really like these slugs, but maybe I need to just sell them and buy something different????
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Brian

Promo is a fast burning powder and wont work well for those heavy slugs. For slugs you would be better with a slower burning powder, 800x, blue dot, etc. What wads that you would use will be directly related to what you would load for powder. Like a Waa12SL, or a waa12F114 wad or somewthing like that. That MEC press is always a good choice.

The wad is part of the slug, one piece. So the powder is too fast? Could I still uses the slugs with the slower powder? And any idea how much more powder.
I've looked for powder data for slugs on the net, but haven't found anything yet. Do they just go by weight 1 1/8 oz pellets = 1 1/8 oz slug or am I missing something.
Thanks for the responds!!
Like I said just getting started so could use all the help I can get.
Cheers
Brian
