hey guys i figured this is place to come to get some straight forward answers on what to get for a first time reloader. i know the general recommendation is going to be get a single stage press, but i am looking to do some higher volume reloading in the near future once i get the hang of it of course. i'm looking to reaload 9mm, 45acp, 22-250, 300 wsm, 270wsm and 45-70. is there a progressive press that can handle all that? what do you guys recommend? hornady, dillon, rcbs.... not looking to completely break the bank but i am willing to spend the money if its worth it. any help would be appreciated. and as a side note what other major components are a must have item and what do you recommend for those.

Buy a single stage press and learn to walk before you try to run. Quality is more important than quantity. I'm a high volume shooter 5,000 to 9,000 per year for the wife & myself) also, my circumstances allow me to use the winter months to do my reloading for the full year. I tried a progressive a few years back and for the quality I manufactured wasn't as good as it was on a single stage press. During matches when using a progressive I had ammo issues, when using a single stage never! Single stages take more time, but the reward comes during the match when both mine and my wifes guns work flawlessly. I have been using the same RCBS RS5 single stage press since 1986 with only 1 broken handle pivot pin since then, and RCBS replaced it for free. Great customer service.
